The Palmview City Council approved Aug. 18 a professional‑services agreement placing B to Z Engineering on an on‑call roster for geotechnical engineering and materials testing services.
Staff told the council an earlier agreement with the firm had expired; the new agreement simply allows the city to request services when needed. When a project requires testing or geotechnical analysis, the firm will submit a work authorization and cost proposal for council consideration before work begins and payment is made.
The council moved and seconded the agreement; the motion carried on a voice vote. Staff emphasized that there is no automatic charge under the agreement unless the city activates services with a work authorization and the council approves the cost proposal.
Council members asked about past uses of the firm; staff said B to Z Engineering has provided testing for road paving and related projects in prior years. Any specific work authorizations and associated costs will be returned to council for approval when required.
