The Palmview City Council approved an interlocal agreement Aug. 18 with Sullivan City to provide primary ambulance services, including stationing a unit in Sullivan three days per week for up to eight hours per day at the same rate Sullivan City currently pays.
City staff said the agreement mirrors a proposal discussed at a prior workshop and that staff added a penalty provision allowing the city to stop service and charge interest if Sullivan City failed to pay. Council members said the added language brings the Sullivan City agreement into the same administrative position as recently updated contracts with neighboring cities.
"This was proposed by Sullivan to provide a proposal for ambulance services," a staff presenter said, adding the arrangement contemplates placing a staffed ambulance in Sullivan three days a week at the existing rate. Staff also confirmed the contract includes protections (penalty and stop‑service language) in case of nonpayment.
Council members moved and seconded the agreement; the motion passed on a voice vote. Staff said the agreement will be finalized with the updated penalty provisions and executed as written.
