Boise Parks and Recreation commissioners praise Doug Holloway at his final meeting

Commissioners and civic leaders used the Boise Parks and Recreation Commission meeting to mark Doug Holloway’s final session as department director and to thank him for his years of service.

Several commissioners and guests delivered tributes describing Holloway as a collaborative leader who built relationships with city agencies and community partners. A Boise School District representative said, “you have just been an incredible partner,” and credited Holloway with strong collaboration on programming and facilities. Council member Willets and other commissioners praised Holloway’s integrity, creativity and ability to produce results.

Holloway said the department’s achievements reflect the work of many people and emphasized continuity in leadership: “For her to move into this role is going to make sure that we don't just continue to sustain the great work we're doing, but it'll continue to rise,” he said of Sarah, who is slated to succeed him. Holloway also noted gratitude for council and community support for parks funding and referenced an upcoming levy in November.

The meeting closed with a motion to adjourn. A commissioner moved to adjourn, another commissioner seconded, and the commission approved the motion by voice vote (all in favor).
