Council pledges support for Youth Hope Month proclamation, schedules reading Nov. 4

Clark County councilors on Oct. 15 signaled support for a proclamation recognizing Youth Hope Month in November and asked who would read it at the Nov. 4 council meeting.
Jordan Bogie, county staff, explained that the proclamation had been presented by the National Women's Coalition Against Violence and Exploitation and that the recognition had been reframed in recent years from "National Runaway Prevention Month" to "Youth Hope Month" to broaden focus to protective factors and suicide prevention. "Previously, before the last couple of years, it was known as National Runaway Prevention Month. But for the last couple of years, it has been Youth Hope Month," Bogie said.
Councilors indicated support by raising thumbs and one councilor volunteered to read the proclamation on Nov. 4. Bogie said the coalition likely would send Michelle Bart to accept the proclamation.
There was no formal roll-call vote recorded; councilors expressed general support and staff will include the proclamation on the Nov. 4 agenda for acceptance.
