County says $1.4 million roofing project on track after quick reimbursement, connectivity work nearing completion

Officials said the roof project is a reimbursable expense and the county’s finance director, Diane Leger, secured the first $41,000 in reimbursement within about a week after submitting required receipts and billing, according to remarks during the meeting. County staff said the prompt reimbursement eased short-term cash concerns while the project continues.
Commissioners were told that abatement crews have been able to work during a roofing delay and that stanchion removal has been taking place after hours. County staff identified the contractor as Gopher and said the county had shared a timetable and receipts with the contractor, which responded with thanks.
Justin, a county staff member, gave an update on an interior tile and connectivity project and said, “They'll be here Thursday. They'll hopefully complete that project.” The board also discussed radio and microwave links: staff said the new roof-mounted radio positioning will be higher than the previous installation, which will help overcome tree-encroachment problems that have degraded microwave links. Commissioners were told that connectivity performance is currently about 98–98.5 percent compared with the original baseline.
County staff noted they expected the contractor to push to close out the project once practical and that ongoing cashflow management—prompt billing to avoid accumulating unpaid invoices—remains a priority. No change to the project’s overall budget was reported during the discussion.
