The Manhattan-Ogden USD 383 Board of Education approved an amended agenda and several consent items and authorized two contract awards during its Oct. 15 meeting.
The board voted 7-0 to adopt an amended agenda after Carla moved to remove agenda item 11.1 (Marlette Elementary Parking Design Services) and Greg seconded the motion.
The board approved the consent agenda by a 7-0 vote. The consent agenda included minutes from recent meetings, consideration of bills, the September financial reports, the human-resources report and several donations and grants. The board accepted a retirement notice from Krista Thamert, intervention teacher at Bluemont Elementary, effective May 22, 2026. The district listed community gifts totaling $28,779 that evening, including a $3,000 donation to Anthony Middle School (split among three donors), $1,950 for Manhattan High School FFA T-shirt sponsorships and a $14,829 donation to Manhattan High for football equipment.
On separate motions, the board gave final approval to two construction proposals:
- Final approval to the proposal submitted by Mid Continent Restoration Company of Fort Scott, Kan., for the Amanda Arnold masonry project, in the amount of $78,780 (motion by Kurt, second by Greg). The motion passed 7-0.
- Final approval to the proposal submitted by McConnell and Associates of Kansas City, Mo., for the Bishop Stadium running-track project, in the amount of $122,471 (motion by Carla, second by Christine). The motion passed 7-0. Board members noted the stadium and track remain available for public daytime use when not closed for scheduled maintenance.
The board set next meetings: a special meeting Oct. 28 at 5:15 p.m. (Teaching and Learning Room, Lincoln Education Center) and the regular meeting Nov. 5. No further votes were taken on disciplinary or governance actions at the Oct. 15 meeting.
