Harney County Court on Oct. 15 approved a request to rename a private access road historically called Almond Ranch Road to Moo Meadows Road.
County planning staff said the policy requires naming when a private access serves three dwellings; the application indicated three addresses currently use the access and that the applicant has paid the application fee and will cover sign costs. Staff also said the first portion of the private access crosses Bureau of Land Management lands before reaching private property.
Bryce (county staff on the line) said the county will update 911 mapping and notify relevant agencies and postal services so that emergency services and addresses remain coordinated. Staff said they will contact affected neighbors as part of the standard notification procedure; in this case the road does not cross other private properties besides the applicant's parcel.
A motion to approve the road-name change passed by voice vote with no recorded opposition. The court adopted Resolution 2025-23 to effect the name change and instructed staff to process the sign order and notifications.
