Board recognizes students and staff; Crossland reports Charter Oak occupancy complete
Summary
Guthrie Public Schools recognized October students and staff of the month and received a brief construction update: Charter Oak occupancy is finished and Crossland Construction reported punch-list work is underway at another site.
GUTHRIE, Okla. — The Guthrie Public Schools Board opened its Oct. 13 meeting with employee and student recognition and a short construction update.
Mr. Hancock presented student and employee-of-the-month recognitions. He said Mia Kenny (Charter Oak) was selected student of the month after demonstrating marked academic-score improvement over the past year and the summer. Support-employee and certified-employee awards for September were also announced (Jenny Oldenburg at Charter Oak among those named); the board packet lists the committee process used for nominations.
In a facilities update, a Crossland Construction representative reported that Charter Oak construction is finished and the district has occupancy. Crossland said a punch-walk was conducted the previous Thursday and outstanding items are being addressed before moving in; the board acknowledged the update.
Superintendent Dr. Michael Simpson gave a brief calendar and operations report noting the end of the first nine weeks, upcoming parent-teacher conferences, that Oct. 1 student count was 3,493 (an increase of four students from last year for state funding purposes), and athletic updates: the Lady Jay softball team qualified for the state tournament, and the volleyball team was participating in regionals.
No public comments were offered during the public-comment period.
