Parish introduces 2026 budget ordinance and 2025 amendments; public hearing set for Dec. 4

The Livingston Parish Council on Oct. 9 received an introduction of the proposed 2026 budget and proposed amendments to the 2025 budget and approved the ordinance’s introduction. Finance Director Mickey McMorris and staff said they will work with the finance committee to minimize changes to the 2026 numbers but noted that large project expenditures (for example, overlay and road projects) may cause some 2025 items to spill into 2026.
Staff said they will hold finance-committee public meetings and separate public hearings so members of the public may review and ask questions ahead of final action. The council approved the introduction of proposed Ordinance 2527, which amends the 2025 budget and adopts the 2026 budget for general, special revenue, debt service and capital improvement funds; the recorded public hearing date is Dec. 4, 2025 at 6:00 p.m.
Councilmembers asked staff to provide ample opportunity for public review and for committee meetings to present detailed budget information before the formal public hearing. The ordinance introduction passed unanimously at the meeting.
