Commission continues MBTA commuter-rail resource-area confirmation to Oct. 23

Representatives for Keolis Commuter Services and the MBTA sought confirmation of resource-area boundaries within the commuter-rail right-of-way during a continued Request for Determination of Applicability at the Oct. 2 meeting.
Project surveyor Matt Donovan said he revised maps and field markings in response to agent comments and added yellow (buffer) zones in selected locations to provide more protection near the Sudbury Reservoir and small intermittent streams. Donovan said he updated plastic markings on ties in the field to match the revised maps and provided photos and short videos documenting the changes.
Commission staff said the revised materials were posted only a few hours before the meeting and that agent Melissa will be back in the office on Oct. 14; several commissioners requested time to review the new maps, photos and videos. Commissioner Kevin (surname not provided on the record) said he reviewed the materials and found them generally acceptable but was the only member to have done so.
Given limited staff and member review time, the commission voted to continue the RDA to its next regularly scheduled meeting on Oct. 23 to allow Melissa and other commissioners to review the updated maps and photos; the applicant may be able to address comments administratively if minor edits are required. The continuation was approved by roll-call vote: Zulek, Barrington, Upton, Barbara Glovsky and Anne Smith voted yes.
Applicant representatives were told they could coordinate directly with staff and that no surprises would be expected at the continued hearing if staff raises any minor items beforehand.
