The Ivins City Council approved two personnel and committee actions related to public works.

First, the council appointed Tom Jorgensen to serve as Public Works Director (resolution 2025-19R). Councilmembers praised Jorgensen's experience and said the appointment enables a split role with operations led by an existing operations manager so the city can maintain both engineering and field operations capacity.

Second, the council approved a separate resolution (2025-20R) to name Jorgensen as the city's representative to the Sensitive Lands Committee; that committee reviews and advises on conservation-sensitive land issues.

Both appointments were approved by roll-call vote and are effective immediately. City staff said recruitment is underway for an additional junior engineer to support engineering tasks.
