Euclid planning commission tables mixed-use code amendment; issues revised commissioner handbooks

The Euclid Planning and Zoning Commission discussed two administrative items on Oct. 21 and agreed to defer a proposed code amendment and distribute revised handbooks to commissioners.

Planning staff said a proposed amendment to the residential mixed-use permitted-uses table had been circulated a few months earlier but copies were not available at the meeting. Staff recommended tabling the proposal until the next meeting so both newly appointed commissioners could review the materials with the full five-member commission present.

A separate update distributed to commissioners was a revised commissioner handbook that incorporates the recent zoning code changes to the residential section. Staff said they created new bound handbooks rather than partial inserts so new and returning commissioners would have a complete, up-to-date reference and encouraged commissioners to contact staff with questions. Staff also reminded commissioners about Sunshine Law limits on off-agenda communications.

No formal vote was taken on the code amendment; the item was tabled for consideration at a future meeting when full commission membership is expected.
