Shreveport Environmental Court orders multiple demolitions, cleanups and resets; dozens of cases continued or closed

Shreveport Environmental Court convened for a morning docket led by Hearing Officer Sarah Giglio, who processed a large slate of property-code enforcement matters ranging from abatements and demolition orders to monitored repairs and procedural resets. The court signed demolition and cleanup orders for properties it found blighted, closed matters where owners abated violations, and reset many eviction-linked and rehabilitation matters to August and September review dates.

The session focused on residential properties with code violations dating from late 2024 through 2025. Inspectors for the city presented photographs and inspection histories case by case; property owners and contractors spoke in response. Where owners had made demonstrable repairs, the hearings resulted in closure of the violation file. Where there was little or no progress or where owners failed to appear after notice, the hearing officer entered orders for city cleanup and demolition or otherwise directed work to proceed.
