The Shreveport City Council adopted a resolution Aug. 19 honoring Ramona Baylor for more than 30 years of public service in the city’s Water and Sewer Department.
The resolution, read aloud by the clerk, described Baylor as a longtime employee ‘‘known for her kindness, leadership, and unwavering commitment to her community’’ and stated that ‘‘her legacy will continue through the work she helped shape and the people she inspired.’'
Mister Snead offered remarks on behalf of the family, saying, "Ramona Baylor was one of those employees that we will never replace. Her memory and her legacy and her dedication will live on in them whether they knew her or not." A speaker identified as Chisholm added that Baylor held high standards and focused on helping people, saying, "Anyone that met Miss Baylor knew she had high standards, and she expected you to have those standards too. One of her key things was just helping people." The presiding official also spoke, saying the city would miss Baylor and offered condolences to her family.
The council voted to adopt Resolution 98 honoring Baylor; the clerk recorded the motion and the vote as passing 6-0.
The resolution requests that the council extend condolences to Baylor’s family and recognizes her decades of service to the city.
