The Madison County Schools Board of Education approved routine finance and personnel items including monthly financial reports, the 2025–26 local Head Start memorandum of agreement, and the creation and ratification of two special-education LBD teacher positions.
The board approved the balance sheet and revenue-and-expense report for Aug. 31, with staff noting supply expenditures tracked high for the time of year because the school year had just begun. A district official said one T-bill tied to construction money would be brought back into cash flow as construction nears completion.
On the Head Start program, the board approved the 2025–26 local Head Start memorandum of agreement and service contract for cooperation and full utilization of Head Start services. The board described the memorandum as a standard annual renewal.
Personnel action: The board created and ratified one special-education LBD teacher position at Madison Central High School and one at Shannon Johnson Elementary School.
Votes and procedure: Each of these items was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote with board members saying “Aye” and the chair announcing the motion carried.
Why it matters: Approving financial reports keeps the board’s fiscal oversight current; the Head Start agreement secures local cooperation for early-childhood services; adding two LBD positions expands special-education staffing at the two schools named.
