The Gardner City License Commission on Oct. 14 approved a change of officers for the Guard and Fish and Gun Club, after club representatives explained the group’s annual officer elections and recent membership trends.
The pitch to the commission came from Darren Christian Dunblop, identified on the record as the nominee for chair, and Eric Storm, who identified himself as the club’s president. Commission members moved and seconded approval; the commission approved the change by voice vote.
The club’s representatives said officer turnover is annual and driven by a regular election for president, vice president, secretary and several board positions. Storm said the organization has seen increased new-member sign-ups in 2025, averaging “between 4 and 12 a month,” which he described as a boost compared with the last eight to 10 years.
Speakers described the club as an older organization with a higher average membership age but noted an influx of new members this year. Storm suggested some of the administrative burden that accompanies frequent officer turnover could be addressed by clerical changes; a commission member suggested notarizing certain documents in future filings.
With no substantive objections from commissioners, the motion to approve the club’s change of officers carried.
The commission moved next to other agenda items, including several pending transfers and license applications under review by the Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission (ABCC).
