Commission adopts RSA 31:105 indemnification for county employees

Carroll County commissioners voted on Oct. 20 to adopt RSA 31:105 to provide indemnification for county employees and confirm insurance protections across the county workforce.

A commissioner moved that the board adopt RSA 31:105 to indemnify employees; the motion was seconded and approved by an aye vote. During the discussion, the motion sponsor explained the action responds to a 2023 law change requiring a board vote to provide indemnification and that the county did not have a clear record showing a prior vote taken.

Commissioners said the adoption clarifies that county insurance will provide protection for employees acting within the scope of their duties, and the measure was framed as a routine, administratively protective action. The vote was recorded and the board said it would retain documentation of the action for the record.
