Council nominates five people to San Patricio County Appraisal District board

The City of Aransas Pass submitted nominations to the San Patricio County Appraisal District on Oct. 20, nominating up to five individuals as permitted for eligible taxing entities.
City staff explained the two-step process for Appraisal District board appointments: today’s nominations are Step 1; Step 2 will be the ballot prepared by the appraisal district and returned to the taxing entities for voting later in the year. The city may nominate up to five qualified individuals who must be current on property taxes and not be employees of any taxing entity served by the appraisal district.
Council confirmed a slate that included John Curley, Bill Wilson, Michelle Cosima and Marcy Thormalin, and added Terry Stansbury to the list. The council recorded the nominations and directed staff to submit them before the Oct. 24 deadline.
Ending: The appraisal district will vet the nominees and compile the ballot; council will receive the ballot no later than Dec. 15 for the formal voting step.
