Vermillion City Council advanced Ordinance 15-46 on Oct. 20 to amend city code references listing the Vermillion Police Department address for parking-ticket payments. The ordinance would replace the current listing of 15 Washington Street with 1250 Stanford Street to reflect the department's new location.

Staff explained the code change is administrative and recommended advancing the ordinance for a second reading on Nov. 3. Councilors discussed whether to omit a street address in favor of the department name in code; staff said listing the address provides clarity for payment locations.

Councilors also asked when the new police department would be operational; staff said the move depended on 911-line transfers and that staff were aiming for the next Wednesday to move the 911 lines.

Councilor Lieber moved to advance the ordinance; Councilor Price seconded. The motion passed by voice vote.
