The Shawnee County Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday approved two capital expenditures for the Stormont Vail Event Center totaling $62,500.

Matt Rocker, director of operations for the Stormont Vail Event Center, said the county would replace six talk-through speakers at the main box office for $7,500; the venue has 12 units total and replacements are needed because the existing units are 14–15 years old.

The commission also approved $55,000 in capital expenditures to cover multiple repairs needed for the FPHL hockey season, including ice-plant repairs, replacement glass for dasher boards and concrete anchors for dasher systems.

Both motions passed 3-0.
