Executive Director Anthony Williams said Cooper currently struggles to roster a team with fewer than 10 athletes while Armstrong dropped from 44 participants to 33 last year. Williams said the district has secured some elementary-level equipment through an activities grant to help feeder participation, but that a cooperative approach would allow the two schools to pool athletes and sustain a competitive program. Board members asked about numbers in youth leagues and about feeder programming; staff said there is a youth club league in the area but district participation remains limited.
No formal action was taken Monday; staff said they will bring a cooperative agreement for board approval at the next business meeting.
