Denham Springs — At its Sept. 22 meeting the Denham Springs City Council approved several procedural items and a donation in short votes that generated little public debate.
Rezoning public hearing: The council authorized a public hearing for a proposed rezoning (RZ‑454) requested by Denham Springs Living LLC for a portion of Lot 9 A1 (Section 37, T7S R3E) along LA Highway 16. The hearing was set for Oct. 14, 2025, at 6 p.m. in the municipal courtroom. The motion was moved and seconded and passed; council recorded votes in favor by members identified in the meeting as DuBois, Gilbert, Sam Williams and Wesley; one member announced an abstention because they would not be present at the hearing.
Gas tap fee ordinance public hearings: The council authorized two public hearings to consider amendments to the City of Denham Springs Code of Ordinances, chapter 106, adding section 33 relative to gas tap fees (including a provision regarding residential tap fees inside city limits). Both hearings were scheduled for Oct. 27, 2025, at 6 p.m. in the municipal courtroom. Councilmembers moved and seconded the motions and the council recorded the motions as approved.
Donation of surplus electronics: The council approved donation of various electronic equipment and components from previously approved surplus (noted as approved surplus on June 10, 2025) — specifically items removed from units 471 and 572 — to the Greensburg Police Department. The motion passed on a voice vote.
