Assessor staff press toward October assessment publishing; IT and GIS report incremental system work

A committee member reported the supervisor of assessments resigned about two weeks earlier and said assessment staff have increased efforts to prepare tentative assessment notices. The member said assessment entries at the township level and supervisor level are complete, cleanup is done, and the equalization stage is under way; the member said staff expect to publish assessment data in mid to late October and aim to distribute tentative Equalized Assessed Value (EAV) notices to taxing bodies by mid-October, barring technical issues.
Eric Peterson provided the technology update, saying county IT has simplified email setup steps to reduce failure points and is rolling out a new backup system incrementally; he said most backups are implemented and roughly 10 remain. Peterson also reported Wi‑Fi issues across county buildings that may require equipment replacement and said his team is documenting systems and contact points to speed support.
The GIS representative said programming resolved duplicate-address issues where a single parcel had multiple addresses, allowing creation of separate records for units such as duplexes and apartments. The GIS staff migrated address data from CIC to DevNet and began publishing the corrected data to the state. The representative said they are completing remaining address entries with the aid of recent Google Street View imagery and expected to finish in about a week.
No formal committee action was taken on these routine reports; members thanked staff and asked clarifying questions.
