The Lake County Board of Commissioners on May 8 adopted a resolution proclaiming May 2025 as Foster Parent Recognition Month.

Commissioners praised foster parents for their “entire self” commitment to children without parents and thanked local foster care workers. Jean Tetrick, supervisor of the substitute care unit, told the board, “We currently have 38 foster parents here in Lake County and always want more,” and thanked the commissioners for their ongoing support.

The board approved the proclamation by voice vote; no funding or policy changes were made during the meeting. A ceremonial photo opportunity was noted by staff following the vote.
