County administrator says no new funds obligated for recent bid; jail project mock-up cell on-site for review

Sheriff Leon Bruno and Chief Izzo were noted as being in Columbus for a review of the plan and operations; the administrator said the sheriff’s team will also visit the factory that is producing the final cells to inspect the completed units.
The administrator described the mock-up as useful for detailed review of lighting, access and how inmates will function within the cell (single and dual-occupancy configurations were mentioned). He said foundation work is progressing on the Jackson Street side of the jail site and that concrete forms are coming off sections of the first wall.
In a separate utilities report, a commissioner urged support for the Ohio Public Works Commission renewal (Issue 2) and encouraged voters to vote yes on May 6; the transcript records the commissioner’s advocacy and notes the county and municipalities have used OPWC funding for infrastructure projects.
