Lake County commissioners hold hearing on proposed 2026 tax budget; no public comments

The Lake County Board of Commissioners held a public hearing at 9:45 a.m. June 26 in the commissioners' chambers in Painesville to consider the proposed 2026 Lake County tax budget; no members of the public offered oral or written comments during the hearing, officials said.

The proposed tax budget, Lake County budget manager Zach said, covers funds that receive property tax revenue, including the general fund, children services, Adams Board, board of developmental disability, crime lab, narcotics and senior citizens. "The 2026 tax budget is proposed to be on the agenda of 07/10/2025 for your approval," Zach said, adding that projected revenues through the first five months of 2025 are in line with actual revenues.

Board President (name not specified) asked whether the clerk's reading of the affidavit of publication should be waived; a motion to waive the reading was made and seconded and passed on a recorded vote: Commissioner Beveridge — yes; Commissioner Plecnik — yes; Commissioner Ravitch — yes. Zach told commissioners two copies of the tax budget would be sent to the auditor's office by the end of the day for public inspection.

The board will consider adopting the proposed 2026 tax budget at its regular meeting at 10 a.m. July 10 in the commissioners' chambers. Additional written endorsements or objections may be sent to the clerk of the Board of Lake County Commissioners, 105 Main Street, Building A, Fifth Floor, Suite 513, Lake County Administration Center, Painesville, Ohio 44077, until 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, the board president said. The hearing was then adjourned.
