Lake County commissioners approve routine contracts, grants and payments

At a regular meeting, the Lake County Board of Commissioners approved a series of routine resolutions awarding contracts, accepting grants and authorizing payments for county projects and operations.

The board approved an award of $686,000 for the St. Clair Street overlay project in Painesville City and the Village of Fairport Harbor, a $686,350 contract for a wheel-wash system at the Lake County Solid Waste Facility, and multiple water and sanitary sewer project approvals for Hidden Village Estate Subdivision Phase 6 in Perry Village and a Mount Royal sanitary sewer extension in Concord Township. The board also accepted grants and authorized payment of county bills, including a fiscal-year vouchers warrant and a $36,435.43 Coverdell grant subaward to the Lake County Scribe Laboratory.

The approvals advance local road, sewer and solid-waste infrastructure and finalize routine financial authorizations. Several items included project identifiers and dollar amounts on the record; most passed unanimously at the meeting. One payment to CT Consultants drew an abstention from a commissioner.

Most significant votes and amounts approved at the meeting included: a $686,000 award for the St. Clair Street overlay (PID 121606); a $686,350 contract to Cook Paving and Construction Co. Inc. for the solid-waste facility wheel wash (Project 481L2024); $418,753.50 for a waterline for Hidden Village Estate Subdivision Phase 6 (JET 25-18); $401,393.30 for sanitary sewer work for Hidden Village Estate Subdivision Phase 6 (JET 25-18); and county payment authorizations totaling $2,792,268.59 as listed on the commissioners’ approval journal.

Utilities Department representative Mr. Roethlisberger reported a recent bid opening for the final phase of Lakeshore Boulevard and said “the low bid was about 5% below the engineer’s estimates,” noting the county expects to proceed with that work in the coming months.
