Local nonprofit Yesterday's Gone thanks Cedar Park for grant supporting transitional housing

During the public communications portion of the Oct. 20 meeting, Lori Tamayo, founder and executive director of Yesterday's Gone, thanked the City Council for a grant the city awarded to the nonprofit and described how the funds will be used.
"With the money you've given us, Yesterday's Gone provides transitional housing for up to a year for women, their children, and pets," Tamayo said. She said the organization also provides life-coaching and counseling services and operates a case-management program; the nonprofit has a waiting list of about 50 people and reported helping more than 380 women since 2024.
Tamayo brought awareness bracelets to the meeting for Domestic Violence Awareness Month and asked council members to wear them in support. Council members thanked Tamayo for the organization's work and for the in-person update.
No formal council action on the grant was taken during the public comment; Tamayo's remarks were part of the public communications section that precedes the consent and business agendas.
