Dr. Milne, identified as operations specialist with the Lighthouse, told commissioners the organization provides services to victims across Baldwin County, saying "1 in 3 women are impacted in their lifetime by domestic violence." She described outreach and a remembrance event scheduled for Oct. 16 at Mayday Park in Daphne.
Commissioners praised Lighthouse staff and law enforcement partners and thanked volunteers and advocates who assist survivors. A motion to adopt the proclamation was made and seconded; the commission voted and the motion carried.
The proclamation and the Lighthouse presentation emphasized prevention, survivor support and community resources. The meeting did not include a vote to allocate new county funds to the Lighthouse; the action recorded was formal adoption of the proclamation.
