Pascack Valley Regional High School District staff told the board they set three district goals for the 2025–26 school year after summer sessions with directors, supervisors and building administrators, focused on student agency, purposeful technology use, and school culture.
Staff summarized the goals as: 1) empower students to take ownership of their coursework by developing study habits, organization and active engagement; 2) cultivate purposeful use of technology and digital‑literacy skills, including self‑regulation for responsible use; and 3) foster a school culture and climate that promotes engaging, purposeful learning, stronger interpersonal skills and mutual respect.
According to the presentation, the goals emerged from multi‑day planning by district leaders who identified strengths and weaknesses to shape the year’s priorities. A staff presenter said those priorities will guide professional development and targeted supports across buildings.
Presenters also announced that two district students were selected to serve on the 2025 Climate Change Learning Collaborative Student Advisory Board, a state‑funded grant program designed to bolster climate‑change education; the presenters did not name the students during the remarks. Presenters asked the board to consider the district goals as guiding priorities for curriculum alignment, staff training and student supports for the coming year.
No formal board action was taken on the goals at the meeting; staff said they will bring related implementation steps and measures to future committee meetings.
