Bike Santa Fe board members updated the Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee on Sept. 11 about volunteer-run services and outreach, reporting that the organization ran 10 bike valets this year with 20 community volunteers and parked more than 250 bikes, strollers and wagons at events.

"The valets continue to show that we need bike parking in the city," said David Seaton, introduced to the committee as a new Bike Santa Fe board member. The group also described ongoing Safe Routes to School collaborations and a bike repair event planned for Nino Otero Community School.

Bike Santa Fe representatives said they are collecting location-specific reports and safety concerns from residents to compile data the organization can share with city staff. BPAC staff agreed to post incoming data on the committee’s web page and to explore using city communications channels to amplify safety messaging.

The organization also noted plans to be a regular presence at BPAC meetings and to support education and campaign efforts to increase awareness of cyclists’ presence on city streets.
