New Brunswick rec center outlines capital requests, program calendar and new hours

A recreation staff member for New Brunswick summarized plans on program expansions, building upgrades and scheduling changes during a staff meeting, saying the center is waiting on final approvals for a capital request that would fund painting of the game room and teen area.

The update matters because the planned capital work and equipment upgrades would affect lighting, programming and audiovisual capacity in spaces used daily by youths and community sports leagues. Staff also outlined fall programming, upcoming community events and a new park-reservation rule that affects community and partner bookings.

At the meeting the staff member said the largest single capital priority is repainting the game room, the teen-exclusive portion of the rec center, and noted the space ‘‘hasn’t been painted, I think, since we opened.’’ The painting is intended to brighten ceilings and match updated color schemes elsewhere in the building.
