Trousdale County—During the meeting the district provided a multi-item facilities update that included an order for a permanent chiller, progress on the athletic complex and ongoing interior construction at the new middle school.

Dr. Satterfield told the board the district has ordered a permanent chiller for the middle-school building; the "estimated delivery time is mid January," he said. The district also has a bid opening scheduled for installation work. A temporary rented chiller has been in service; meeting remarks noted the purchased chiller has greater tonnage than the rental unit.

At the athletic complex, brick and stonework is nearing completion and the newly built steps on the east and west sides were described in detail: a 7-inch rise and a 16-inch tread. Aluminum window and door frames are being installed and interior work —junctions of electrical conduit and HVAC ductwork—was under way, Dr. Satterfield said. He told the board the contractor planned to begin the parking-lot work and pole-light foundations soon and to complete painting before cold weather.

The roof remained a source of delay. Dr. Satterfield reported repeated schedule pushes by the roofing contractor and said the district expected the roof work to be completed within weeks if weather cooperated. He asked the board and community to allow time for the final steps of exterior and interior work as the district moves toward occupancy.

Why it matters: The chiller and substantial site work are prerequisites for comfortable, safe occupant conditions in winter and for opening new or renovated facilities. Board members asked for regular status updates so the district can plan for occupancy and for any required warranty or close-out documentation.

Next steps listed by district staff included finalizing the chiller installation contract after bid openings, completing remaining exterior framing and glazing, paving and striping the athletic parking lot, and continuing interior mechanical and electrical work. The superintendent also noted the district's monthly maintenance report was available for board review.
