Arlington ISD reported a perfect financial first rating from the Texas Education Agency for the 2024–25 year during a required public hearing at the Sept. 18 Board meeting. Interim Chief Financial Officer Norberto Rivas said the district scored 100 on the TEA first rating for the second consecutive year.
Rivas described the rating as a TA (TEA) comparison of critical, solvency and financial competence indicators and noted that two indicators related to COVID-era enrollment uncertainty remain excluded. "For both years, Arlington ISD got a perfect score of a 100. So congratulations to everybody involved," Rivas said.
The board opened the public hearing and no speakers registered; the hearing was closed at 8:10 p.m. Trustees and Superintendent Dr. Marcelo Smith publicly praised staff for fiscal management and oversight that produced the high rating. Trustees did not take any additional action beyond receiving the report and closing the public hearing.
The TEA first-rating report is posted on the district's financial management reports webpage and includes itemized indicators and supporting information, Rivas said. Trustees asked no further questions and thanked the finance team for the work that produced the rating.
