County staff said the parcel in question contains an existing billboard on property acquired by the county; the previous lease had ended. The renewed agreement totals $7,500 per year for a $75,000 contract over the 10-year term. Staff told commissioners that paragraph 14 of the agreement — negotiated with Lamar’s representative and attorney — was updated to add two prohibitions requested by commissioners: political advertisements and gambling advertisements.
County attorneys and staff circulated the proposed paragraph to commissioners in advance of the meeting to avoid potential open‑meetings issues and received agreement from Lamar on the additional prohibitions, staff said. The board approved the renewal 3-0.
No further changes to rent or other financial terms were made at the meeting.
