Council approves updated joint-use agreement with Wenatchee School District
Summary

The Wenatchee City Council voted unanimously to approve an updated joint-use facilities agreement with the Wenatchee School District that replaces a 1994 version of the same agreement and clarifies current operational expectations.
Dave Erickson, parks and recreation director, said the agreement allows the city and district to share access to facilities including gyms, classrooms, picnic shelters and trails to support educational and recreational programs. Erickson said the district approved the agreement earlier in the week and that the city’s motion authorizes the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services director to sign the agreement on the city’s behalf.
Council members noted routine uses under the agreement include the city’s youth basketball and volleyball programs and said the agreement could allow other events by mutual arrangement. The council passed the motion with a voice vote after a motion by Councilmember Hornby and a second by Councilmember Ewer.
The updated interlocal agreement is intended to reflect current practice and enable ongoing cooperative programming between the city and the school district. Erickson said staff would answer any follow-up operational questions and coordinate schedules with the district as needed.
