Spring Hill City Council on Thursday approved Ordinance 2025-15 to rezone a property at the southeast corner of Woodland Road and Woodland Connect from R-1 (single-family) to C-2 (general business).
Ms. Long, a staff member who presented the item, said the Planning Commission held a public hearing and “recommend[ed] approval 6, 0, 0.” The council unanimously voted to adopt the ordinance; the roll call recorded five “yes” votes and no “no” votes.
Council members said the location appears appropriate for commercial use. Ms. Long told the council the parcel is “almost 6 acres” and includes a recently renovated building the owner currently uses for private gatherings. She said the owner had suggested a possible event center and mentioned food trucks as a potential future use.
There was no public comment at the hearing on the rezoning, and no amendments were offered during council discussion. The ordinance passed with the recorded votes of Mr. Young, Mr. Thrawn, Mrs. Fieback, Mr. Peel and Mayor Berkey.
The rezoning changes the official zoning designation for the parcel to C-2, allowing general business uses under city code. No development plan or specific site plan was approved as part of the ordinance; any future use will be subject to applicable permitting and land‑use regulations.
