Council approves $40,000 downward adjustment to 2016 general fund budget

The Common Council held a public hearing Nov. 3 on the proposed 2016 general fund operating budget and then approved a $40,000 downward adjustment described by staff as an expenditure restraint program adjustment.

Director Beetle told the council the $40,000 adjustment is the only change being requested and that it reduces overall spending; the council then moved to approve the budget as adjusted. A motion to approve, seconded, passed on a voice vote.

No members of the public spoke during the hearing. Councilors asked only for a brief clarification that the change reduced the contingency portion of the budget.
