Committee confirms two reappointments to O'ahu Historic Preservation Commission

The Honolulu City Council Committee on Zoning and Planning on Sept. 23 considered two resolutions confirming appointments to the O'ahu Historic Preservation Commission and reported both out as amended CD1 for adoption.

Resolution 25-2-38 confirmed the reappointment of Maheilani Seifer for a term expiring June 16, 2030. Miss Seifer thanked the committee and said she looks forward to continuing the commission's rulemaking and work on historic preservation, including public education about local historic places. "I'm really excited about this commission continuing to work to establish itself...I'm hoping we can complete our rulemaking in the next few months," Seifer said.

Resolution 25-2-37 confirmed the appointment of Catherine Stevens to fill a vacancy for a term expiring June 16, 2030. Stevens identified herself as a licensed architect with a master's in architecture and a certificate in historic preservation and said she has 33 years of experience in local preservation work. "Historic resources offer us the opportunity to learn about people that came here...I look forward to this opportunity to support the City and County and to help educate the public about these important resources," Stevens said.

Department of Planning and Permitting representatives (Michael Cat/Catt in the record) told the committee DPP supports both nominees and the CD1 technical amendments. The committee amended both resolutions to CD1 and reported them out for adoption without objection.
