The Akron City Council approved three ordinances authorizing contracts with local nonprofit providers to support the Lead Safe Akron program.

Councilman Kammer said the measures "have to do with our Lead Safe Akron program" and asked the council to suspend the rules so the items could be passed. The council suspended the rules and approved each ordinance by unanimous voice vote; the transcript records each vote as 11 to 0.

The ordinances authorize the mayor or his designee to enter into contracts with Nazareth Housing Development Corporation and Well Community Development Corporation for lead-abatement services and with Rebuilding Together Northeast Ohio for relocation services in support of the program.
