Platte County commissioners on Sept. 22 approved a contract with Midwest Mobile Radio Services to install an 800-megahertz bidirectional amplifier (BDA) at North Platte High School in Dearborn to restore indoor radio coverage for first responders.
A presenter identified in the record as Tony Avery, representing the sheriff's office, told the commission the North Platte High School is an area in the county where "there's just no service" inside the building. He said the installation will cost $28,683.58, that costs will be paid from the sheriff's civil account, and that ambulance and fire districts will reimburse the sheriff's account proportionally.
Avery described the amplifier as picking up the 800 MHz transmission inside the building, amplifying it and sending it to an outside antenna where it will be retransmitted on the regular radio system. The motion to approve 2025-CO-132 passed on a 3-0 roll call; the transcript records no amendments or alternate funding arrangements beyond the proportional reimbursement described.
