Covington County awards liquid asphalt bid to Hunt Refining Company

The Covington County Commission on Sept. 23 approved awarding the county’s liquid asphalt bid to Hunt Refining Company after receiving competitive bids from Hunt and a second vendor.

County staff said two companies submitted bids; Hunt was the low bidder on the majority of line items, including MC-70 where the other bidder did not submit a price. "Hunt would basically low bidder on that also so at this time I would entertain a motion to award the bid to Hunt Refining Company," the administrator said.

A motion to award the bid to Hunt Refining Company was made, seconded and approved by voice vote. No exact dollar amounts or contract length were recorded in the meeting transcript.

County staff will proceed with contract paperwork consistent with the procurement award; commissioners did not record further conditions or an extended discussion in the transcript.
