Lawrence County commissioners on Sept. 30 announced an opening on the Lawrence County Airport Authority and publicized an America250 mobile experiential unit visit scheduled Oct. 25 at Cheeseman's Fright Farm in Slippery Rock Township.
The chair said the vacancy is for the seat currently held by James Farris Jr.; his five-year term expired May 31 and he continues to serve until the county reappoints or replaces him. The board invited interested residents to apply by attending a public meeting or sending a letter or email expressing interest.
Separately, the chair said the America250 mobile experiential unit — a truck-based mobile exhibit tied to the nation’s semiquincentennial — will be at Cheeseman's Fright Farm (147 Kennedy Road, Slippery Rock Township) on Oct. 25 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is open to the public and will include interactive games and a drawing for a chance to attend the July 4, 2026, celebration in Philadelphia. The county contact for the America250 effort is Ginny Jacob Colella of Visit Lawrence County Tourism Agency, the chair said.
Commissioners said they had notified the current seat-holder of the vacancy and that he indicated he would likely reapply. No appointment or additional authority action was taken at the meeting.
