The Kaneland Board of Education voted 7–0 to adopt the Fox Valley Career Center’s 2025–26 budget, which the Career Center’s board previously approved at its Sept. 3 meeting. Dr. Bogan explained that Kaneland serves as fiscal agent and the board’s approval is required.
Dr. Bogan reported that Fox Valley’s 11th-day enrollment was 386 students, down slightly from 395 last year; member-district tuition contributions are calculated from that figure. The Career Center will receive $339,188 from the Career Technical Education grant and received an increase of about $18,910 in federal Perkins funding, bringing Perkins funding to $53,177. Those additional Perkins dollars allowed program materials for welding, automotive and electrical to remain funded while maintaining steady tuition rates for member districts.
Fox Valley’s final budget represents a 0.27 percent increase over last year—about $6,690—and is balanced. Dr. Bogan said the Career Center projects revenues will exceed expenditures by $10.63; the Career Center typically reconciles or returns unspent funds to member districts or applies them to operational needs. The board approved the budget by roll call.
Board members asked about tuition trends and membership; Dr. Bogan said tuition has risen only slightly and that, although one district (West Aurora) no longer participates, the remaining member districts have not signaled intent to withdraw.
The board’s approval allows Fox Valley to continue operations under the adopted staffing and program plans for 2025–26.
