Commissioners approve four budget transfers ahead of general election

Lawrence County commissioners on Sept. 30 approved four budget transfers moving funds into operating lines, including a $30,000 transfer into voter services for security and transportation ahead of the upcoming general election.

The transfers the board approved are:

- $190 (district judge Nicholson): $100 from contingency to Staples (office supplies) and $90 from contingency to subscriptions; - $3,500 (assessment office): transfer from contingency into contracted assessment services to cover InfoCision services for homestead procedures; - $4,200 (tax claim): transfer from contracted consulting into materials and supplies to pay for upset sale and return and claim notices required by law; - $30,000 (voter services): transfer from contingency into security/transportation to cover election-related expenses.

The board voted to approve the transfers by motion and roll call; Commissioners Sonata, Kennedy and Vogler voted yes. Commissioners and staff noted the general election is approaching in approximately five to six weeks and said the voter-services transfer responds to that schedule.
