City OKs temporary Veterans Council logo and adds inaugural event to calendar

The City Council on Thursday agreed to let the newly formed Saint Cloud Veterans Council use a logo presented by council-appointed vice chair Steven Montero for the remainder of 2025 while the group works with the city’s graphic designer on a revised version for 2026.
During a presentation, Montero described the new council’s mission to honor veterans, preserve the city’s “Soldier City” heritage and provide veterans’ services locally. He asked the council to approve the logo so the council could use it to promote an inaugural veterans-themed farmers market and resources kickoff scheduled for Nov. 9.
Council members generally praised the design and offered minor suggestions — some asked the veterans group to consider incorporating recognizable local buildings such as City Hall or the Veterans Building into future versions. City staff said a graphic artist on staff would assist the veterans group with refinements and that the council would vote on the logo as part of the consent agenda that evening.
Action taken: The council left the logo item on the consent agenda and later approved the full consent agenda (which included the logo for 2025) by a 4-0 vote. Council directed staff to work with the veterans council on an updated 2026 mark and to return with the revised design next year.
Ending: The Saint Cloud Veterans Council announced its inaugural event — a Sunday farmers-market-style veterans resource event — for Nov. 9, 10 a.m.–2 p.m. The council’s logo will be used in 2025 materials while a revised logo is developed for 2026.
