Larimer County proclaims 2025 the Year of Philanthropy as NoCo Foundation marks 50 years

The Larimer County Board of County Commissioners on Oct. 7 adopted a proclamation declaring 2025 the Year of Philanthropy, marking the 50th anniversary of the NoCo Foundation and recognizing the group's long-standing work supporting local nonprofits and regional initiatives.
Claire Bouchard of the NoCo Foundation thanked the board and described a year of events celebrating the foundation’s 50 years of work and partnerships with Larimer County. Commissioners referenced the foundation’s projects—including early support for the Lincoln Center—and the organization’s role in regional reports and programs such as the intersections community indicators work, the Water Literate Leaders program, and disaster and COVID recovery funding.
Commissioner Jody Shattuck McNally and others said the foundation’s regional work and community engagement have helped coordinate philanthropic resources on issues such as housing, water and child care. The proclamation text read at the meeting noted the foundation’s grantmaking to local nonprofits as a long-term contribution to community nonprofit capacity.
The board voted 3–0 to approve the proclamation. Commissioners described the proclamation as an opportunity to encourage giving and to highlight the foundation’s role in convening regional partners and supporting local civic projects.
