Larimer County proclaims October 2025 National Disability Employment Awareness Month

The Larimer County Board of County Commissioners on Oct. 7 unanimously adopted a proclamation recognizing October 2025 as National Disability Employment Awareness Month and highlighted county training and hiring efforts.
The proclamation, read during the administrative matters meeting by Devonte, a Larimer County Public Health Department employee, said the county is “committed to building an inclusive community and workplace that welcomes the talent of all people, including people with disabilities.” Devonte read the formal text of the proclamation at the meeting.
The board and presenters said the county will host employee trainings during October and is partnering with the Arc of Larimer County on outreach and employment support. Joe Buckley of the Larimer County Department of Health and Environment, speaking for the county’s Employee Advisory Council, said, “Folks with disabilities may face less job opportunities. However, just like everyone here in our county, they're crucial to making our county the best it can be.”
Anais Campbell, advocacy manager at the Arc of Larimer County, told commissioners that Arc Thrift is a significant local employer for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and described the nonprofit’s goal of integrating people with disabilities into community life. “National Disability Employment Awareness Month is near and dear to our hearts at the Arc,” Campbell said.
Commissioners commended the county’s internal Employment Advisory Council and county staff who work on inclusive hiring. The board noted upcoming trainings: Campbell confirmed a county training with the Arc on Oct. 14 from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. at the 200 Perdutt Avenue building in Loveland, the time and location announced at the meeting.
The board voted 3–0 to approve the proclamation and paused afterward for a photo.
Speakers at the meeting said the county will continue outreach and training to increase opportunities and supports for job candidates and employees with disabilities.
