The Jones County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 7 approved a renewal of a facility-use agreement with the American Red Cross to make the Matty Wells Community Center and county gym available as evacuation and shelter sites.
A presenter identified in the meeting as Miss Tyler summarized the agreement as a standard renewal to document the county facilities Red Cross could use and what equipment or support the organization would bring in an emergency. Commissioners and staff said the agreement updates had not been renewed in some time and that the form clarifies responsibilities for both the county and the Red Cross.
A motion to approve the renewal passed on a voice vote.
