The county manager told commissioners that the $4,000,000 award increases the total grant funds for the Alston Quarter project to “over $88,200,000,” and staff will bring the acquisition and implementation plan to a future commission agenda. The manager said the grant will allow the county to acquire the property and extend trail segments; specific acquisition terms, closing dates and a staff implementation schedule will be presented to the board in a subsequent agenda item.
County officials also noted a county fire‑prevention outreach event and introduced a newly hired human‑resources director, Tanika Bryant.
No formal vote occurred; staff said the grant will be reflected in upcoming agenda materials with details on next steps, funding breakdowns and project timelines.
